The government's October inflation report, due at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, is the main event for U.S. investors this week. Earnings from AI cloud provider CoreWeave on Tuesday and network-equipment maker Cisco on Thursday will test a tech sector that just had a rough week.

Where markets stand

Stocks head into the week after a broad decline. The S&P 500 lost 2.7% over the week ended Friday, November 6, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 3.4%, according to AP. Friday itself was calmer: the S&P 500 rose 0.3% and the Nasdaq gained 1.1%. Our Friday market close story has the details.

Why the inflation number matters

The September report showed consumer prices rising 0.6% in a single month and 3.7% from a year earlier, up from 3.4% in August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Gasoline did much of the work, jumping 9.1% in the month. Core prices, which leave out food and energy, rose a milder 0.3% for the month and 2.6% over 12 months.

That gap between headline and core inflation is what to watch on Tuesday. A second big energy-driven jump would keep pressure on household budgets. A pickup in core prices would matter more for the Federal Reserve, because core inflation is a better guide to where prices are heading. Friday's October jobs report, which showed 165,000 jobs added, already gave the Fed a picture of a labor market that is still hiring.

The Producer Price Index on Friday tracks prices that businesses receive, which can show cost pressures before they reach shoppers.

Earnings to watch

CoreWeave rents out computing power built on AI chips, so its results will be read as a check on AI spending after Thursday's tech sell-off. Cisco sells the networking gear that connects data centers.

TipRanks' calendar also lists Constellation Energy, KKR and Take-Two on Monday, Sea Ltd. on Tuesday, and Applied Materials and Nebius on Thursday. If you are new to reading results, our guide on how to read an earnings report explains revenue, EPS and guidance.
